Plan your trip to Northeast Iceland

Rauðinúpur bird cliff, northeast Iceland.

Getting to Iceland is easy. Flights to Reykjavik is surprisingly cheap. You will land at the international airport Keflavik. From there we advice to take the bus or taxi to the domestic ´Reykjavik´ Airport. From this small airport you will find reasonably priced flights to Akureyri, Þórshöfn and Vopnafjörður. There are also direct flights from the domestic airport to Husavik. Northeast Iceland is where the great birding takes place. Iceland have experienced something of a travel/tourism bonanza the past decade. However it is the aeras near Reykjavik that have seen the most growth. The Northeast very much feels like the wild, yet very accessible parts of Iceland. After arriving at any of these places you can have a rental car waiting for you, ready to explore the wild Northeast!
